The soloists in Mozart's Sinfona Concertante for four winds are the principal oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn of the Woodstock Symphony Orchestra; Joel Evans, Jeff Geller, Cornelia McGiver, and Lisa Q. Stach-Freitag, respectively.

Jessie Montgomery is a violinist and Grammy-winning composer whose 2012 work "Starburst" for string orchestra has been widely performed. It evokes the rapid formation of new stars in the "star nursery" of a galaxy.

Schumann's Symphony No. 3, the "Rhenish" was composed in 1850 and is the last symphony he wrote, (his fourth symphony was written earlier but published later.). Its nickname of "Rhenish" refers to the Rhine river. Although Schumann had originally given it a title referring to the river, he later deleted that title, not wishing to constrain the hearer's imagination and reaction to the symphony.
