Come and meet the hapless but unflappable Charity Hope Valentine desperately seeking love in New York City in the 1960s. In this exuberant, groovy, hilarious Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-Winning Musical Comedy, Charity tries again and again to find her dream and make something of herself.

Inspired by Federico Fellini's Nights of Cabiria, Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score by Cy Coleman, sparkling lyrics by Dorothy Fields including “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “I’m a Brass Band” and “Baby, Dream Your Dream”, and a hilarious book by Neil Simon, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City (our very own New York City) for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.

This performance is brought to the stage of the iconic Woodstock Playhouse featuring the Woodstock Playhouse Summer Theatre Cast 2021, a regional company of rising-professional performers widely acclaimed for some of the finest performances in our NY & Tri-State region.
